Last year, I wanted to do something completely different and photograph something out of the norm. I took advantage of a Living Social deal to stay at the Hotel de Glace in Old Quebec for one night. I extended my trip and stayed at the Chateau De Frontenac to get the opportunity to photograph the iced river and the castle. My original goal was to set up the camera on a tripod and do a time-lapse of the ice in the water. Still, after arriving, I discovered that the windows in the castle open inward instead of up, leaving me no way to get a proper angle even though I had a great vantage point with my room’s location on the side of the castle. I still managed to wander around and grab some great photos.

I also stopped at Aux Anciens Canadians, which is one of Canada’s oldest buildings turned into a restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find the food was phenomenal. I shared a recipe for the restaurant’s maple syrup pie on my other blog.
